BUS DIRECTIONS
From Kathmandu:
Local busses are generally slow and not always on time. Stay connected with us ahead of and during your journey, so we can know when to meet you in Nawalpur.
Go to Chuchepati bus stop (near Chabahil – Boudhha)
Bus to Nawalpur at 7.30 and 8.50. Be there 1 hour before departure to reserve your seat.
Bus goes via Bahunepate or Melamchi.
The bus from Kathmandu to Nawalpur will arrive in the afternoon between 1 and 3 pm.
The Farm is a 2, 5km / 40 min walk from Nawalpur. Some of us will meet you in Nawalpur.
The bus ticket cost around NPR 350-400 Nrp (USD 3,50)
It’s possible to hire a jeep for transportation. It can be a good option if you are 3-4 people. It’s a more comfortable and flexible way to travel and can go directly from your hotel in Kathmandu to the farm (3-4 hours). The bolero jeep can carry max 4-5 passengers + 500 kg goods. Our local driver charges USD 90,-

Money matters
ATMs for money withdrawal are available in Kathmandu only. Bring enough cash money (NPR). The daily fee will need to be paid in cash NPR.
Apart from your transportation costs, the only extra money you may need while staying at the farm, is if you buy some snacks, personal items.. from the village shops.
If you wish to use the laundry service at the farm, this is possible for NPR 100,- per kg. You can also do your laundry yourself by hand, for free. Drying lines and soap are available.
Hiking/trekking is possible on days off – weather permitting – and is always in consultation with us and adjusted to suitable days. When we go for a full day of hiking/trekking, we provide you with a guide, breakfast and some snacks. Volunteers will pay for their own lunch on the trail and also for the lunch of the guide.
ACCOMMODATION IN KATHMANDU
In Kathmandu, we have relatives that run a travel office and a small family hotel. They are very helpful and many of our volunteers are in contact with them, for a touch base, information, directions to the bus.

You are also most welcome to stay with them at their hotel. It has a homely atmosphere centrally located in Kathmandu, a 5-minute walk to Thamel, next to Pokhara tourist bus stand. The rooms have attached bathrooms and cost USD 10 for single, 12 per night for double. Breakfast included for our volunteers. Nirmala (mum) cooks tasty affordable evening dinner “daalbhat in the rooftop kitchen.
Airport pickup costs USD 10, Milan or Nirmal will welcome you and drive you to the hotel.
